When I started nursing, I had no idea what I truly needed. After trying tons of breastfeeding products that promised to make my life easier, I can tell you that these are the products any nursing mother would love to have (and will *actually* use!). Whether you’re shopping for a new mom in your life or are looking to treat yourself, the right gift can make all the difference. These gifts are perfect for any nursing mama, whether she’s a seasoned mom of many or brand new to breastfeeding, these are the items I couldn’t live without and soon she won’t be able to either!
1. Portable Milk Warmer
We travel with our kids. A lot. Being able to give our baby a bottle in the back seat without having to pull over to nurse is such a lifesaver on long road trips!

I love that it heats up breast milk in just 5 minutes and that it has a long lasting battery AND is wireless. I don’t have to plan ahead to be somewhere to plug it in – I charge it once for an hour and a half and it’s good to go!

Even now that I’ve breastfed multiple children over the last 10 years, I still find that I want to use a nursing cover sometimes. Especially when my baby gets to the point that they unlatch unexpectedly.
A beautiful nursing cover is a one-size fits all gift that any nursing mom will appreciate!
5. Nursing-Friendly Apparel
One of the best nursing products I was ever gifted was a nursing cami like this one.
I wore it until it literally fell apart because it was just so easy to throw a shirt on and leave the house.
Before trying a shirt that was designed for nursing, I took for granted what a big difference it would make.
Nursing tops with easy-access panels allow for discrete nursing no matter where you are.
Trust me when I tell you that this will make a huge difference, especially for a new nursing mom.
6. Breastfeeding Pillow
After I had my first baby, I saw several lactation consultants on our breastfeeding journey. Almost every one I talked to asked if I had a nursing pillow.
I truly didn’t realize how life-changing these things were – and that regular pillows from your bed are NOT a good substitute for one of these amazing things!
I felt like I was holding my baby for hours on end (because I was!), and finally gave in and tried the nursing pillow.
I stopped feeling like I was hunched over all day, my feeding sessions were so much more comfortable, and my baby seemed more relaxed because I was more relaxed.
Our breastfeeding sessions lasted longer and I didn’t have to relatch my son nearly as often.
Any breastfeeding mom on your list will thank you for a gift like these (and her back will too!)
7. Large Muslin Swaddles
One of my best friends gifted me the largest muslin swaddles I’d ever seen a couple of years ago and I am using them again with my newest addition.
I will, for the rest of my days, gift these to any new mom. The larger the better.
Perfect for swaddling, they also double as a lightweight blanket and as a nursing cover in a pinch.
8. Snacks
Just like my desperate need for water, breastfeeding kicks in an insatiable appetite like you’ve never experienced.
This is a great, budget-friendly gift for a nursing mother. Individually wrapped protein bars or trail mix packs are good options or purchase some lactation cookies to help with snack cravings AND milk supply!
9. Skin Care
Postpartum skin is dry, prone to breakouts, and often super itchy – at least mine was.
New nursing moms are likely to overlook their own skincare because they’re so concerned with every bump and rash that appears on their new little one.
Gift the nursing mom in your life lotions made of natural ingredients to improve her skin and to protect the baby from any reactions to harsh ingredients.
10. Nipple Cream
Whether the nursing mom in your life has nursed several babies or is a new mom nursing for the first time, nipple cream is a necessity.
Cracked, painful nipples are almost a given.
Even if the nursing mom in your life has older children and is experienced with breastfeeding, she hasn’t breastfed THIS baby.
There is a learning curve that every breastfeeding mama and nursling pair have to go through before it becomes second nature.
Nipple cream, I prefer this organic one, is a useful, inexpensive gift that every breastfeeding mom should have.
11. A Stylish Bag or Backpack
With babies (and breastfeeding!) comes tons of stuff. Skip the gift bag for one of the items on this list and gift it in a stylish backpack or diaper bag instead!
I prefer one with tons of little pockets so I can keep things separate and find them with one hand easily while juggling my baby.
Trust me when I tell you the new mom in your life will appreciate this in a diaper bag too.
