15 Perfect Gifts for the LEGO-Obsessed Kid (That Aren’t LEGO Sets)

If you have a LEGO-obsessed kid, you already know the struggle. They have the sets. They have so many sets. And every holiday season you find yourself staring at the toy aisle wondering what on earth to get them that isn’t another box of bricks.

I’ve been there (more times than I can count with my own builders at home). So I rounded up 15 gifts that feed the LEGO love without adding another set to the pile. Some are practical, some are pure fun, and a few are experiences they’ll remember long after the last brick is put away.

1. A Homemade LEGO Advent Calendar

This one is a tradition in our house, and it’s my absolute favorite. Instead of buying a pre-made lego advent calendar (which you can buy, but they are astronomically expensive), I make my own. I head to BrickOwl and pick out individual LEGO pieces I know my kids will go wild for: a special minifigure, a rare color, a cool accessory, a piece they’ve been hunting for. (Often, they will point out sets they want JUST because they have a few specific pieces inside. They don’t really want the whole set. They just want the axolotls. lol)

I tuck one into each day’s pocket or box. It’s cheaper than you’d think, completely customized to your kid, and they get a little burst of excitement every single morning in December.

2. A Day at LEGOLAND

Skip the “stuff” this year and give a memory instead. A trip to LEGOLAND is the ultimate gift for a kid who lives and breathes bricks. Think rides, giant LEGO sculptures, building zones, and a whole park built around the thing they love most.

Wrap up a printed ticket or a small LEGO minifigure with a note saying “We’re going to LEGOLAND!” and watch their face light up on Christmas morning.

3. A LEGO Table

If your kitchen table is permanently covered in half-built creations (and bricks underfoot), a dedicated LEGO table is a game changer. It gives your kid a home base for building, keeps pieces corralled, and lets big projects stay out without getting in the way of dinner. We got ours (like the one pictured above) at costco, but costco only has them through the last part of the year and they sell out fast. They are also available on Amazon.

4. A Display Shelf for Their LEGO Sets

LEGO kids are proud of their builds, and they should be! A display shelf gets finished sets off the floor and puts them front and center where they can be admired. It also helps protect those carefully built models from little siblings and stray elbows.

5. LEGO Storage Containers

The not-so-glamorous gift that every LEGO parent secretly wants to give. Good storage makes it easier for kids to find the exact piece they’re looking for, and makes clean-up so much faster. Bonus: these are fun to look at, so your kid won’t mind using them.

6. LEGO Building Idea Books

For the kid who has built every set exactly as the instructions say, idea books open up a whole new world. They’re packed with inspiration for building original creations from the bricks they already own. It’s a great way to breathe new life into that giant bin of mixed pieces.

7. LEGO-Compatible Motors

Ready to level up? Motors let kids make their creations actually move. Cars that drive, fans that spin, contraptions that whir to life. It’s a fun, hands-on introduction to simple engineering, and perfect for older kids who are ready for a new challenge.

8. LEGO Worlds Video Game

For screen-time hours, this is one you can feel (more or less) good about. It’s very kid-friendly; LEGO Worlds is an open-world building game where kids can explore and create with virtual bricks. They get to build without limits (and you don’t have to step on any of it).

9. LEGO Recreate Activity Cards

These cards are full of creative building challenges that get kids thinking outside the box. They’re great for rainy days, road trips, or anytime your kid says “I’m bored.” They also make a fun family activity if you want to build alongside them.

10. A LEGO Clock

A LEGO clock is fun and functional. It’s perfect for a LEGO-themed bedroom and might even help with the morning routine. There’s an official LEGO version, plus a great alternate-brand option if you’re looking for something different.

11. An LED Lighting Kit for Their Builds

Nothing makes a LEGO build look cooler than lighting it up. LED kits add tiny lights to finished sets, so a castle glows at night or a spaceship looks ready for launch. It’s a fun way to give a favorite set a brand-new look.

12. LEGO-Compatible Bricks Tape Measure

This bricks and studs specific tape measure let’s your little builder perfectly plan their next creation – all relative to the size of bricks and studs, not centimeters or inches.

13. A Stop-Motion Animation Kit

Perfect for the creative kid who loves telling stories with their minifigures. A stop-motion kit lets them turn their builds into little movies, frame by frame. It’s a great mix of building, storytelling, and tech, and the results are always hilarious.

14. A Minifigure Display Case

Most LEGO kids have a growing army of minifigures scattered around the house. A minifigure display case gives each one a spot to shine and keeps the collection organized. It’s also perfect for showing off rare or favorite figures.

15. A Spot in a LEGO Building Class or Camp

Another experience gift that skips the clutter. Many communities offer LEGO building classes, robotics clubs, or holiday and summer camps. Your kid gets to build with other LEGO fans and learn new techniques. Check your local rec center, library, or STEM programs for options.

Happy Building (and Happy Gifting!)

The best gifts for LEGO kids don’t always come in a box with a set number on it. Whether you go big with a trip to LEGOLAND, get practical with storage, or make a homemade advent calendar they’ll talk about all December, your builder is going to feel so seen.

Which one is going on your list this year? Let me know in the comments, and if you’ve found a non-LEGO-set gift your kid loved, I’d love to hear about it!
