Before we can have an honest conversation about how to stop wasting food, we need to look at some statistics. Did you know that just one quarter of all wasted food could feed the 795 million undernourished people around the world who suffer from hunger (source)?? What about the fact that In the USA, 30-40% of the food supply is wasted, equaling more than 20 pounds of food per person per month (source)?read more
Never waking up again at 6 am to commute, never again worrying more about someone else’s bottom line, never missing another one of your baby’s firsts… never (ever) smiling like you mean it (but really, really, not meaning it) – when you’d rather just flat out punch the guy in the throat? (I worked in customer service. Can you tell?)
I’d be willing to bet you’ve thought about it.
Calling all new mommas –
There’s an internet marketing company called Mother’s Lounge, and they are tryin’ to get you to BUY.
They are legit, and they use awesome “loss leaders” (where the company might actually lose money on something) to get you shopping. As a marketing tactic, it’s proven to work.
Are babies REALLY that expensive? A while back I had a comment on one of my debt free living posts… something to the effect of we “wouldn’t still be debt free after we had kids, because kids are so expensive.” (I was pretty pregnant when I read that comment, so it hit closer to home than it might have a few months before.)read more
Now, let’s not pretend that I have been on top of things these past few (or 6) months. I’ve already admitted to you guys that I, queen of credit-cards-are-your-best-friends-if-you-use-them-right, have been dropping balls all over the place. I got my husbands Worker’s Comp Insurance cut off because I forgot to pay the bill, we got fined by the CRA because I forgot to file sales tax, and yes, I paid interest on a credit card…twice. I am blaming this on pregnancy and baby brain, and not admitting any fault at all, thankyouverymuch.read more

I’d tried lots of different things over the years – photography, travel counselling, making and selling decorative signs, but none of those things were for me.read more
Have you tried to work from home and found it … hard / confusing / not possible? We might all dream of the “be your own boss” lifestyle, but I gotta admit – there’s a certain ease to clocking in and clocking out. When you’re your own boss, there’s a little more to it than that.read more
Living paycheck to paycheck sucks. How many times have you said (or heard someone else say) – that you couldn’t buy the whatever-you-want until Friday, because Friday is payday?read more
I have almost totally ignored my blog for exactly one month as of Christmas day (so for more like 6 weeks as of the time this is posted)! This will be short, because my blogging time is short. And oh my, this is an income report I am excited about. NOT because I made a ton of money or had wicked awesome page views. I made less money and had over 40k fewer page views than I did in November.read more
From blogs chronicling their author’s debt-free journey, to a radio show that invites callers to celebrate becoming debt-free, it seems as if there is a subculture of debt-free fanatics that are challenging our “buy now, pay later” culture.read more
